Missing our students!

Can you believe we've been doing ONLINE learning for EIGHT weeks already!? We are really missing our students and know online learning is just not the same without seeing them everyday. We hope you are all staying safe, healthy and finding creative ways to keep being at home fun!

Here are your tasks for our eighth week of online learning. You can do them in any order that you would like. The approximate time to complete your assignments are listed to help you plan your week. Secret word: invertebrate Further instructions for students are in our Google Classroom. If you need any further clarification with these tasks please do not hesitate to email your classroom teacher!


Language Arts / Inquiry / Well Being 
Time- 3.5 hours 
  
Journal Entry – Recipe Writing 

  • Watch the attached video of Ms.Meier making a recipe sent to her by Ms.McBride! “Chicken Tacos”  
  • Think about how important it is to include all the details when giving specific instructions to someone else, especially when cooking! 
  • Think about all your favourite foods to eat at home and create a recipe for one of your favourite meals! 

This assignment must be turned in to your teacher.  
(1 hour) 
Independent Reading 
  • Pick a book from Raz Kids, an online book or book you have at home and make inferences about the story throughout reading 
(1 hour) 
Reading Response – Personal Comparisons 
  • Watch and listen to the Non-fiction text “Friends Around the World”. Find a quiet space to make personal connections and comparisons to other children around the world.  
(30 minutes) 
Word Work: Sight Word Check-In 

  • Follow along with the video to share your sight word knowledge. 

This assignment must be turned into your teacher.  
(30 mins) 
Research Practice: Organizing Information 

  • Use the Venn Diagram to compare the life cycles of honeybees and butterflies.   

This assignment must be turned into your teacher. 


Math  
Time 1.5 hours 
Weather Graphing   

  • Use last week’s weather reports from your Google Classroom stream to fill in the pictograph and answer the questions.  

This assignment must be turned in to your teacher. 

(30 mins) 

Story Problem 
  • Create and addition or subtraction Story Problem for your teachers and classmates to solve. 

(30 mins) 

Prodigy 
  • Explore Prodigy: Explore Prodigy to build number sense.  
(30 mins)
