Week 11

BREAKING NEWS

There will be NO school on Friday, November 22 due to conferences.

Conferences will take place on the evening of November 21st and all day Friday.

Please be sure to sign up for a conference as soon as possible through your mycbe account (link in sidebar).

In LITERACY we continued to  to edit our own work  and others' work by checking for punctuation, capitals and sight words. We also wrote about what empathy means to us and showcased our work on our bulletin boards.

Our sight words for next week are:

-were

-again
-really
-would
-light

In MATH we participated in math talks to represent numbers to 100 in different ways.

We have also continued to work on increasing patterns! We were given complex patterns to extend and repeat and recorded our pattern rules. We then created our own complex increasing patterns for our friends to extend

In SCIENCE we continued to develop as meteorologists by checking and recording the daily temperature. We graphed the daily report on a pictograph and used the information to identify patterns in weather for the first weeks of November. It is definitely getting colder! We also explored how Ms. McBride was able to insulate her home better by getting new windows and doors. The new windows and doors contain more material for better insulation and got rid of all the cracks that warm air was escaping through.

In SOCIAL STUDIES we continued our inquiry on Calgary in the Past by focusing on Calgary's Indigenous Communities. We used our Talking Sticks is as a tool for truthful and thoughtful communication. Our Talking Sticks helped us to share our perspectives and to honour the perspectives of others.

Thank you for growing with us!

-Ms. Meier and Ms. McBride
