We Miss You All So Much!!!

Hello, Grade 2 Students!

We hope that you are taking good care of yourselves and your families during this difficult time. We will have more information around moving forward with learning after the March Break! Please stay tuned for updates.

In the meantime, we are hoping you are taking advantage of technology to continue your learning. You can still access your Raz Kids accounts, so you can keep reading and growing as learners 😃

You can also access your student google accounts. This way you can share your google slides with your families, and create google docs to practice your typing. Feel free to create new stories and share them with us!

Remember, our google emails are:

Ms. McBride: limcbride@educbe.ca
Ms. Meier: ltmeier@educbe.ca

Feel free to share your google work with us, or email us just to say hello! 😊

We are thinking of you all and wishing you the very best!
Love,
-Ms Meier and Ms McBride

Cancellation of our Celebration of Learning!

BREAKING NEWS: There will be NO CLASSES on Friday, March 20th.

Please note that Wednesday, March 18th is SUPERHERO DAY! Students can come to school dressed as superheroes or in superhero colours. They can even come dressed as community superheroes, like firefighters or police officers!

THANK YOU for our understanding the need to cancel our Celebration of Learning. We are so excited to share our google slides with you, and will let you know as soon as we reschedule 😊

This week, we were so happy to welcome our Area Director, Lori Prichard, into our classroom. Thank you, Lori, for letting us share our learning with you!

In LITERACY we continued to explore the elements of story by creating our own original fiction stories. Some of us used familiar characters and some used our imaginations to plan and write rough drafts of our stories. We look forward to editing them and creating final drafts next week to share with you at conferences! We also continued to explore parts of speech by learning about and identifying verbs, or action words.

In MATH we continued  develop our skills in subtraction with regrouping! We built more equations and story problems using base ten blocks. We remembered that we can't take the bottom number away without "regrouping" from the tens place! This week, we focused heavily on solving using only the equation. We've been using our subtraction poem to complete the operation. We know that if we need a little help with our mental math we can use our tools, like a number line, pictures, or manipulatives! Ask your child to show you :)

                                     .

In SCIENCE we FINISHED working on our google slides for our Celebration of Learning! Now we have been learning how to do cool things like adding backgrounds, transitions, pictures and videos! We are so excited to share these with you after March break!

Thanks for an amazing week of learning 😃
Please take care of your selves and each other! ♥️

In SOCIAL STUDIES we continued our exploration of The Blackfoot First Nation by exploring the legacy of residential schools on Canada's First Nation communities. We revisited our Memory Bag lesson from last week and discussed items important to us! We built our own memory bags and learned how to sew them together! We will be bringing them home to share with our families and collecting important items over the next week to bring into class.

Please help your child collect a few items important to them to share in the class next Friday :)
