BREAKING NEWS:
Our holiday concert will be TUESDAY, DECEMBER 10th. Please send your child to our classroom at 6:00pm, then find a spot in the gym. The concert will begin at 6:30pm.What to wear:
Your child is welcome to dress up in their holiday best! What this means is up to them :) They can come festive or fancy if they choose. They may wish to wear a colour that matches the toy they will be playing (e.g. a toy grizzly bear can wear brown, or a toy T-Rex can wear green). We can't wait to share our performance with you!
In LITERACY we have continued learning about contractions. We have been working hard to squeeze two words, such as "can" and "not," into one word using an apostrophe, such as "can't." This week we will not be choosing words of the week in order to focus on common contractions.
In MATH we have been learning how to solve addition equations vertically but working from right to left and starting with the ones column. Here is an example of an equation we've been practicing:
Ms. Meier has six pairs of mittens.
Ms. McBride has three pairs of mittens.
How many mittens do they have all together?

+6
First we add the ones, (6+2=8), then we drag down the one!+6

Next week we will begin working on vertical addition with regrouping!
In Inquiry we continued our inquiry on Calgary in the Past by exploring the Blackfoot First Nation.
In SOCIAL STUDIES we learned about the oral tradition of the Blackfoot First Nation. First we watched the Blackfoot creation myth!
Then we illustrated the myth to add meaning!
