Happy Weekend!

Have a fantastic weekend <3

In LITERACY we continued to explore the elements of story  and learned all about having a different perspective.  We practiced putting ourselves in the character's shoes and completed journal entries as if we were that character. We read, watched, and listened to familiar stories and tried role playing to really understand how the character may be feeling. We watched the Pixar Short Film called "Preheated" and had students write as if they were the main character in the story. Students discussed how they would be feeling and the actions they would take to solve the problem in the story.

Our sight words for next week are:

gratitude

In MATH we continued to develop our SUBTRACTION strategies. We practiced subtracting using base ten blocks and learned how to check our work using addition! We continued to practice vertical subtraction and are now ready to start subtraction with REGROUPINGWe reminded ourselves that when we subtract, the order of the numbers DOES matter! Putting the bigger number on top is the only way our equation makes sense

In SCIENCE, we continued our water inquiry becoming WATER CONSERVATIONISTS!  This week, we learned how to create a survey and collect data! We brainstormed questions and surveyed each other to see different ways we were still wasting water. One of our survey questions was, "Do you leave the tap running while you brush your teeth?"

We continued to reflect on our own water usage and the impact it has on our environment. We watched a sad video about little ducklings who were affected by an oil spill and were determined to come up with a solution. We explored the scientific method and use a variety of materials to create the best insulator to keep our ducks safe and dry.

In SOCIAL STUDIES we continued our exploration of Indigenous communities by exploring the rich tradition of Indigenous storytelling and the meaning behind the Inuksuk.

HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY WEEKEND  <3
